Letters and Sharpies

Today, the regular art classes began a quick project to get back into making art. The students drew a block or bubble letter of their choice, making sure the letter looked as if it went off two sides of the paper. Then, using Sharpie marker, they began filling all the space around the letter with patterns. The idea is that once the pencil line from the original letter is erased, the letter will pop out at you because of the stark contrast of white and pattern. This was a good review of some of the elements of art, including lines, shapes, and positive and negative space.

Tomorrow we should have these finished and ready to photograph for Artsonia. Parents, if you have not sent in the Artsonia form, please fill it out and have your child return it so I can create your parent account.
